Gurley got paid because the Rams haven't won a solitary thing lately and believe they had to pay him. We'll see if the Rams are able to sign some other guys when their contracts are up. That's how it works with the cap..."You got mine?... No?... Ok... BYE!"

Like Max says.Who I hate by the way,it is a business. The owners OWN the players like every other business in the world. They want to make money! They offered him $14.5 million!! He said no! If the players want out then go!! There are many guys willing to take their place!!

Bottom line is he said NO!! to $14.5 million dollars..

Bell thought he could get the money, so he took a risk. The risk was that the remaining Pittsburgh RBs would not perform well at all and The Steelers would be forced to negotiate with Bell.
That risk turned out badly for Le'Veon Bell. James Connor is delivering good performance for much less than Bell's salary.
Bell and The Steelers have now had a nasty divorce and Bell will not get paid nearly what he thinks he is worth.

The NFL made has made more African American millionaires than any other business in world history. Le'Veon is an unhappy millionaire and guess what? More money is not going to make him happy either. He has proved this year that he loves money more than football. I hope he decides to retire because he is an ungrateful malcontent. The Steelers man!!! The guy decides he won't play for the Steelers, what owner could trust this guy? None!!! He'll now have more time for liberal causes like PETA, liberalism has likely rotted his brain. There's an owner in Philly who might give him a chance.

Bell wants $17 mil a year, hes crazy ! Gurley is over 2 years younger, never torn his ACL or been hurt like bell did, never been suspended like bell has, hasnt been repramanded by the coach for being late to meetings like bell has. Bell is douchebag plain & simple, cant even reply a text from your 2 time SB QB ? I would be shocked if a team gave him $17 mil/year after sitting out a whole year

LeVeon Bell is giving owners reasons to not give him the money he wants. One, that he is a "Me first" player and not a team first player. Two, that he may well just be a product of the Steelers offensive system, especially with how James Connor is putting up the exact same numbers that Bell has been. And three, do you want to sign a player that has shown that he is more than willing to openly quit on his team and not care about his decision to quit? The franchise tag was going to be $14.5M for this year. That is money he can never get back. And I don't think there is an owner dumb enough to offer him that $14.5M/yr contract or more than that.

I am sorry he was to get 14 million this year from the steelers. That is enough money for anyboby in the NFL. Especially with the rule changes protecting the players from most of the hardest hits. Think about it, 14 million for playing a game. So I cant personaly agree with him holding out. But it is his life and his gamble. How much more does he want to make up the 14 mil. He has already lost. LOL

Agree with Stephen A. The owners aren't going to be strong armed by Bell. Max over there screaming, "but they got to collude" is ridiculous. Do you know how difficult it is to PROVE collusion? Just ask Bob Mueller. These business men THINK a certain way, and when it comes to protecting their interest, no one has to utter one word. It's why I don't believe any owner called up another and said, "We can't sign Kaepernick."

Teams dont have to pay anyone. Its free market. How many times in past they gave given crazy contracts to players that really didnt deserve so they have to be cautious not to give alot to just any player. Only very few players deserve huge contracts. Example cousins got a huge contract. He doesnt deserve it cause he is not elite

What the league really needs to do is take the pay back 10-20 years to what it use to be when football players played with heart & wanted to play football. Or just fire them all and start with fresh college football players, make it worth watching the NFL again. No football no basket ball no sports player should ever be making millions of dollars to play sports. None of them are worth it. Same go for movie stars and musicians.

He richly deserves???? You're kidding right??? Le'veon hasn't played a full season....and last year averaged around 3.3 yards per carry. Just because he has a different running style doesn't make him worth top money. Conner is crushing him in stats.... Does that make Conner worth top money???? It’s not collusion. You really think a team wouldn’t sign Kaperneck if they thought he could turn their team into a contender? The enormous distraction and laser beam that comes with Kaperneck simply isn’t worth it to a team for a decent QB.. The baggage he would bring with him brings his value down to a point that his talent simply can’t surpass, and it makes it not worth it for teams to sign him. Le’veon Bell is a RB in a game that is based on passing now. RB’s don’t get enormous contracts. He just left $15 million dollars on the table, it’s not like they were trying to pay him in change.

So much silly talk here. Had he taken the guaranteed franchise tag, he would have been set up for life with wise decisions plus what he already made. If his goal was to get a ring, he screwed himself. I understand wanting to get paid, but other then maybe the Steelers or Pats, he will never get a ring. The o-line and a great passer have more to do with that than anything else, almost more than talent. Ask Mike Wallace, Holmes and many others. Name one player that did better elsewhere? O'Donnell, Kordell and on and on?

All the herd animals on YouTube saying there is nothing wrong with a player trying to get his money. What you all fail to understand is that its not just 'his' money, its everyone's money. The salary cap is like a big pie, the bigger piece I take, the less of it is left for you. Bell isn't just asking to make more money, he's asking everyone else to make less. No wonder his teammates turned on him.
Tom Brady is the 15th highest paid quarterback in the NFL. Let that sink in for a minute... Brady has sacrificed at least $60 million in his career with discount contracts so that he could build his legacy. Meanwhile Bells legacy is on eBay.
I don't doubt that Bell will get his big fat slice of pie next year with some crappy team but he'll be home for New Years while the Steelers are playing in the snow because football is a team sport.

Bell walked out on his team. He lost the respect of the team, and of the fans. Plus the Steelers have basically a local kid with James Conner doing what Bell was supposed to do, and so far doing it even better. Yes, the CBA is flawed, but Bell walked out on his team and therefore doesn't deserve shit.

Stephen A Smith you're missing the point, the Pittsburgh Steelers did not hafe to sign Le'Veon Bell.
Here you have a guy coming straight out of Michigan State with all the credentials are running back supposed to have.
And the Steelers did him a favor by drafting him, giving him a contract with a signing bonus before he even step on the field.
And you know what he's doing right now?
I don't know if Le'veon Bell
really want a contract like Todd Gurley because Le'veon Bell previous contract with the Steelers, he is giving away 14 million dollars of that contract away.
NFL Organization's don't invest in players to give that type of money away unless they're financially well-off or it would go toward a cause.
So that along seem suspicious.
I think all of this is a locker room issue, that's why he's not showing up and to get back at Pittsburgh that gave him a chance in the first place.
But him giving away 14m..
I don't know what's on Le'Veon Bell mine with all that.
CrexFX - 6 aylar önce
I could understand hating on Bells decision if this was the first year they franchise tagged him, but it's the second straight offseason. He's an incredible talent and they use him in both the rushing and passing attack more than any other RB in the league. At a position that is already extremely injury prone, and where a RB's career usually caps off at 35 tops, it makes sense for Bell to want a long term deal. If he signs the tag for the second straight season, and then tears his ACL, boom there goes any chance at a long term high paying deal. By using the franchise tag on him twice they're basically saying, we're just going to use you until you get injured or you're no longer as effective and we never have to pay you the big bucks. They did him dirty on this one, straight disrespect to a top talent in the NFL. Hopefully he signs the deal he deserves to a team who will show him some respect.

The NFL is a business and will always do what is in its best interests.
From a player's perspective, they are earning more money than they would have outside of playing professional football. Yes, there are more risks for the player as they have uncertainty of how long their career might be based on injuries and ability. So, the players have 3 options. 1) Accept the terms that the team provides to them and be happy about it, 2) Fight the terms that the teams provide to them and risk alienating your employer to where you could lose everything 3) Start your own league.
Honestly, the NFL historically has shown zero concern about the well being and health of its players. How many players from the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's have suffered life ending illnesses or physical disabilities that don't allow them to walk due to playing football? With all of the millions of dollars that the NFL makes, how can they not help those former players who are suffering? If I were a player, I would engage with former players and start your own league. By doing this, you would have better access to the best players and you would bypass the normal steps that the NFL does to selecting rosters. I say if you don't like your employer, get a new one and there is nothing better than being your own boss.
